Box type substation is a prefabricated and compact complete set of distribution equipment that combines high-voltage switchgear, distribution transformers, and low-voltage distribution devices according to a certain wiring scheme. It is installed in a fully enclosed steel structure box that is moisture-proof, rust proof, dust-proof, and fire-resistant, and can be directly used for voltage reduction and distribution of electrical energy.
It is also known as a prefabricated substation or "box transformer", which has the characteristics of small footprint, convenient installation, and mobility. It is widely used in residential areas, urban public transformers, industrial and mining enterprises, construction power sources, and new energy power stations.
Main types
European style transformer: Structurally integrating high-voltage switchgear, transformers, and low-voltage switchgear into one box, metaphorically referred to as "building a house for equipment". Large in size, but easy to maintain.
American style box transformer: integrates load switches, fuses, and transformers into the oil tank, with a compact structure and a volume of only 1/5-1/3 of European style box transformers of the same capacity, suitable for space limited areas.
